Studio one 4. 1 20. You might buy an iPad 2 instead of a laptop. If you've already got a powerful desktop computer but have been thinking of buying a laptop for simple, on-the-go music making, GarageBand for iPad might be the software to convince you that Apple's tablet will do instead. OK, it's not as powerful or flexible as a MacBook, but if it does everything you need, who cares? GarageBand for iPad might hinder rather than help iPad music making software development. I have garage band for ipad mini 2! I tried to hook up this new XIAOKOA condenser mic, but it won't work! GarageBand beat, hope it’s alright. I recently purchased a 1st Generation iPad with the max iOS 5.1 and I need GarageBand on it. I have GB on my iMac but it doesn't show up in the Apps selection of iTunes so I'm stuck on how to request an older version of GarageBand. ~Geary

Since the iOS and Mac versions of GarageBand are different, you'll need to purchase it in the Store section of iTunes. You can just search the store for GarageBand if you're having trouble finding it.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply..however, I think I need to reiterate, I need an 'older version' of GarageBand as I only have iOS 5.1.1 on my iPad. I need GarageBand 1.4..which isn't offered on in the Apple/iTunes store. Any idea who might have an old working link to older GBs? ~Gear

I understand, but if you download the latest version of GarageBand in iTunes, you'll then be offered an older version if you try to download it from the App Store on your iPad. The App Store has a feature to let you download older versions of apps, but one of the prerequisites is that you already own the app, hence the need to download the latest version in iTunes.
